For readers who aren’t familiar with you and your records, can you share with us how you started your career in music?!

I grew up listening to my dad play piano. He was a writer/singer in his own right as well. My mom saw my interest in guitar through my obsession of guitar hero and she bought me one for Christmas when I was around 10 years old. From there I learned with my friend, and at around the age of 12 I started teaching myself piano. My dad ended up buying recording equipment and software for himself to learn how to produce, but he never had any time as a doctor. So I started learning myself, because I was too young to have a job.

Growing up in a musical household, how would you say that influenced your musical style today??

My sisters and brother were always showing me music, and they have a broad variety of taste from rap/hip-hop, to alternative rock and pop. My mom and dad have different tastes. My mom likes the Grateful Dead, Beatles, Rolling Stones. My dad likes elton john, frank sinatra, billy joel. That’s only to name a few. I’d say i’ll always have an appreciation for those influences, but I was also a bit of a loner and introvert as well, so i took time to find my own taste. Right now I’m into artists from John Mayer and Japanese House, to Smino, Frank Ocean, and Rex Orange County.

You’re relatively new on the music scene, so what has it been like to get such a positive response on your music in a short amount of time?!

I’ve been writing music since I was 12. I had other songs I had put out while I was trying to find my own sound, some of those releases felt a bit too influenced by others though. Q&C (questions and confessions EP), felt like me as an artist, and I’m proud of that. I like where I’m headed now artistically. To see all the positive feedback on it has been insane, but it’s something I’ve been preparing for and I’m really far from being done.

With your first huge tour being with Scotty sire in early 2019, what has it been like getting to head out on the road with him again now??

It’s been a blessing, Scott is a great dude and I’m glad we’re friends. I learn a lot from him and I feel like he learns from me too. I’m honored to be on these tours and to be able to bond with all these guys.

Tell us more about your upcoming EP! How does this body of work defer from your previous album?
Haha this is a tough question. I have a lot of different music I’ve been working on. I’m not even sure if an EP is the next move to be honest. I was working on one for a while, but I’ve found inspiration for an album as well. After tour i’m gonna think on what should be next for me.

What does your songwriting process usually look like?

My songwriting process is a mess. It ranges from music production first, to a melody in the car first. But some days I just know when I’m gonna really tell a story. I have to really sit down and dedicate hours at a time to say something. Lately I’ve just been trying to make sure that I’m saying what I want to say, not just whatever comes to mind.

Are you hands-on with your production and mixing process?

Yes I’m definitely hands on with everything. I produce a lot of my own music these days. Mastering is something I need to get more into.

If you could tell younger Chris one thing what would it be?

Trust yourself and stop listening to other people.

Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years??

I see myself doing what I’m doing now on a larger scale. I love my life, my family, and my career. I just want to see it prosper and I want to get better every day.

Do you have a message for your fans?!

To my supporters, thank you for listening. I write music for myself in hopes that you relate, and it means the world to me that you do. I can’t wait to grow with you guys and continue this journey.

We’re so happy to have Chris be apart of our OTR series!! Can’t wait to follow his incredible career!!
