Back in 2019, the amazing Lindsey Lomis joined our On The Rise family. Since then she has flourished into an even more talented musician and now is even on Warner Records! We got to sit down and catch up with Lindsey and talk about her label debut song “Feel”! Check out our conversation below!
How have things changed for you since the last time we spoke in October of 2019!!
Wow! a lot has changed since October 2019. It’s been an incredible 8 months since the last time we spoke! I signed my first major-label deal with Altadena/Warner Records, signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell, and gathered a team that is extremely supportive of me and my vision. I’m in the process of developing my sound for this next chapter of my music. It’s been a busy and exciting year, and even more exciting knowing it’s just the beginning.
We’re OBSESSED with your new song ‘Feel’! Can you take us through your creative process for that song?
‘Feel’ was actually the first song I wrote in LA, with my producer Ryan Daly. We wrote it a little over a year ago in the studio of the late, renowned Busbee, and it’s still one of my favorites to this day. The creative process was extremely natural. We began with playing each other songs and artists we were inspired by at the time (artists like Leon Bridges, SZA, H.E.R., Sabrina Claudio, and more). Then we just dove right into the song and before we knew it it was 4am and we had written and recorded the entire thing. The excitement in the writing room is what fuels a session like this one, and we were soooo excited about the song.
The visuals for your new song are amazing, do you enjoy taking part in artistic elements such as photo shoots, cover art, music videos, etc?!
I absolutely love indulging in the visual aspect of my art. It’s so exciting to take the music and piece it with visuals that feel right. I especially had fun with this music video. I actually filmed it in quarantine with my family – my brother was working the camera and the director was on zoom. I feel like since it was much more hands-on, I got to be extra creative with it and we had the freedom to experiment. It was quite an interesting experience, one I will never forget for sure. There’s actually a BTS video coming revealing how we filmed it!

We can’t imagine how exciting getting a record deal has been! What has it been like working with such an incredible team behind you?
I honestly still can’t believe it either. It has been the best part of all of this; getting to work with people I love and who inspire me daily. It’s a crazy feeling having a team of people working behind me to help fulfill my dreams, and I do not take that for granted.
Speaking of teams, what does your team look like now? Has your songwriting and creative process changed?
I wouldn’t say my songwriting and creative process have changed, but rather evolved. I have completely fallen in love with collaborating and co-writing. I’m starting to find other writers I click super well with and write with on a regular basis. I think the experience of songwriting can be so much more exciting with other people in the room to do it with.
How have you been in quarantine? Do you feel more or less creative than usual?
In quarantine, I definitely feel less creative than usual. I think seeing and doing the same things everyday stump your creativity, even if we are all going through a massive pandemic together. I’m inspired most when I’m busy, traveling, and meeting new people, all of which are not attainable while in quarantine. But I do feel lucky for zoom, where I can continue to co-write and work regardless of the state of the world!
Lastly, what is your hope for the rest of 2020? Do you have any upcoming projects?
My hopes for the rest of 2020 are firstly, that everyone stays safe and continues to take the right health precautions. Second, I hope we can all make a change together and grow from the recent racial injustices that have taken place. And lastly, I hope my music can comfort people in this unusual and dark time. I do have some upcoming projects that I’m extremely excited to share with you. New music, videos, collaborations, and more!
